OK guys, here's the skinny on why I haven't been around a whole lot lately.
My family and I were medevac'd from Okinawa, Japan where we were stationed, to Houston, TX due to my unborn daughter being diagnosed with a neural tube defect, essentially spina bifida. Spina bifida is where during the fetal development, the spinal column doesn't close properly around the spinal cord, leaving the cord OUTSIDE of the developing baby's body, in a cyst like bubble. This floored both my wife and I.
My wife and unborn daughter underwent "Fetal Intervention Surgery" where they essentially gave my wife a C-Section, and operated on my unborn daughter in order to put all the parts back where they should be. (I'm no doctor, so you'll have to forgive the lay mans terms) This was all back around late March, early April timeframe. Surgery went very well, and everything was looking good.
Fast forward to about two weeks ago. Things are still looking good, but during one of the routine checkups, they found out that my wife is having contractions, but she doesn't feel them at all. Docs say that they are so intense that she should be screaming for an epidural. This is no bueno. Wifey is admitted to the hospital, put on meds to stop the contractions (which they do thankfully) and kept there for observation. Until the baby is delivered, which is July 1st. So essentially I have become a single parent looking after my 2 year old son. Which, for those of you that have kids, know that this is no easy task. Between juggling him, trying to figure out where they will station us next, and trips to the hospital to visit with the wife, as well as everything else that needs to get taken care of around here; I just haven't had the time to play as much as I'd like to.
For that, I apologize to you guys. But as Cochran can attest to, it's family first.
Sidenote - for any of you that think otherwise, go fuck yourselves!
If any of you have questions or anything like that, feel free to ask. It helps a bit to take about it and educate people that are unfamiliar with this condition/circumstance.
